Daoist Healing Arts

M. Cissy Majebé founded The Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic, a family Chinese medicine practice, in 1985. It has since grown into a nationally respected multi-practitioner clinic, treating patients from the entire Southeast and beyond. Dr. Majebé herself has become one of the leading authorities on Chinese medicine in the United States, bringing her considerable clinical experience, extensive post-doctoral education, and intrinsic gifts to the treatment of her patients.

Devoted to educating the next generation of practitioners in the ancient traditions of classical Chinese medicine, Dr. Majebé was one of the co-founders of Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2003. The rigorous curriculum highlights the integration of the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of healing, and the school confers a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Dr. Majebé received her BA in Sociology from the University of New Orleans, her MS in Exercise Physiology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and began her PhD at the University of Virginia before leaving to obtain her MA in Acupuncture from the American College of Chinese Medicine. She received her OMD from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine and has completed post-doctoral work in China, Korea, and the United States.

Dr. Majebé was appointed by the governor of North Carolina to the first North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board. She was instrumental in helping to write the rules and regulations governing the practice of acupuncture in North Carolina. She was also the first acupuncturist to to be credentialed to provide Acupuncture at Care Partners Rehabilitation Hospital (formerly Thoms Rehabilitation Hospital). Dr. Majebe also assisted Mission Health in writing their credentialing rules for Acupuncturists. She is well known for her ability to assist Western Health Care facilities in the interfacing of Chinese and Allopathic Medicine.  In addition to her administrative duties at both the Chinese Acupuncture Clinic and Daoist Traditions College, Dr. Majebé maintains a regular teaching schedule and a robust clinical practice, continuing to see patients from Asheville and around the country.

In keeping with her commitment to promoting health and well being among all people, Dr. Majebé founded Daoist Healing Arts in 2002 to provide educational workshops for both the general public and practitioners of Chinese medicine. She is excited to present DHA’s DVD series, designed to bring the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine and Daoist teachings to a wider audience than would normally be able to attend the seminars.
